This is a catch all category where I've included items that don't fit elsewhere.  Here you can expect to find an eclectic listing of items that may make planning your stay easier.  For a listing of links to other related and interesting San Antonio sites including event schedulers go to the Links page

Having a Party?

If you are responsible for a gathering up to perhaps 20 people, then a great idea and one everyone enjoys, particularly the locals, is to have dinner on the river.  Literally, ondinner-cruise.gif (154463 bytes) the river.  Just contact a Riverwalk restaurant that you wish to cater the meal and they will arrange a river barge for you and your guests to enjoy dinner.  You dine while cruising up and down the river.  This is really great!  But you best plan way ahead, for these barges are normally booked a long while ahead.  P.S., if you are arranging for a dinner party on a barge let me know.  I'll join you.  I just love these dinners.

bulletWant to hear local talk radio?  See local TV station? Check out our traffic reports, local hot topics of interest, etc.?  Listen to WOAI.

bulletOutlet Malls!!!  No, this is not in San Antonio but in my service to provide you with the best and most complete coverage of what to do and see in town I feel required to tell you about the outlet malls in San Marcos.  Particularly when I read that these outlet malls are the third most popular tourist attractions in the State, at 6 million people a year, just behind our Alamo and River Walk. So I just had to let you guys know about it.  San Marcos is only a 45 min. drive up IH-35 North towards Austin.  There are two malls right next to each other with over 235 stores and together they are the largest outlet mall complex in the world!!!  If you are a shopper then rent a car and see for yourself.  The two malls are the Prime Outlet Mall and Tanger Outlet Mall.

bulletTower of the Americas Finally reopened in 2006 after an refurbishment costing millions of dollars.

bulletShss, shss, shss...  I shouldn't really tell you this, but....I just found out that the Westin Riverwalk Hotel offers its guests and local residents free afternoon tea from about 3:30 to 5:30.

bulletTheater  If at all possible I recommend seeing a show or performance at the Majestic Theater.  Check their web page for listing of scheduled events.  The theater interior is truly beautiful.  And the only way for you to see it is to attend a performance.  Be cautioned, you want to see the Majestic not its smaller sister theater, the Empire.

bullet Live Cam of the skyline of San Antonio may require registration through local newspaper web site

bulletA Golfer?  Check out the Express-News' 2004 Golf Guide  (still listed as of 10/8/08).  Lists the best courses, holes, etc. You may have to go through the hassle of registration to get to this page.  The numbskulls at the newspaper decided to make everyone register with the thinly veiled pretext of better serving us.  Give us all a break.  I've copied the above to a separate Golf page so you won't have to go through the registration hassle if you just want to look and not touch.  Here's a very good San Antonio golf site I recently stumbled upon for those who can't get enough.  They list all the courses, fees and have a map of the locations around town.
